The story of Samurai Champloo (サムライ チャンプルー) is set in Edo period, and although not a true historical title, offers action, adventure and some comedy mixed with an anachronistic hip-hop music. As a curiosity, the term champloo Okinawa is a word that means mix, in other words Samurai Champloo Samurau would come to be translated as "Mixed."

The manga was published in the magazine Shonen Ace since August 2004 until October of that year. The sleeve contains a total of 10 chapters, compiled in 2 tankōbon. The anime anime was directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and produced by Manglobe studies.

The new edition of the manga will only 384-page volume, which will be released on 28 January, and will be re-released in Japan by Tokuma Favorite Comics.
